Description
This majestic Red-tailed Hawk was hunting overhead when we crossed paths. They are abundant in our area but are often overlooked because of their hunting and living habits. In the spring the males are often the only parent hunting as the female stays with their young waiting for the prey to be brought back to the nest.
Of all of the Hawks they are one of the most adaptable to humans and are often seen in large cities although they prefer more open areas with high perches available.
